During our visit to Westpark Dental Surgery we met with five people who were visiting for examination or treatment and we also spoke with five other people by phone. We met with two dentists, the practice manager and five other staff on duty. We toured the premises and looked at documents relating to the running of the service.People told us that they felt 'at ease' here, and one person said they were 'delighted' with their treatment.
People told us they had been given printed treatment plans. 'The dentist explains every single thing,' one person told us. 'They talk you through it, very good and very gentle.'
Another person said, 'The dentist is pleasant and kind, and the nurse is as well. The receptionists are very, very nice. I have found no faults at all.'
One person told us they had appreciated support from the practice manager when they needed to be referred to another service.
People told us they were made welcome, and 'We get appointments quickly when we need one.'
There were steps to the front door, and a disability access assessment had shown it was not practicable to make this surgery accessible. The practice manager told us that CCTV covered the front entrance, so that reception staff would see if someone were in difficulties, and go to help.
This service was provided by a limited company, which meant that they were obliged to register a manager with the CQC. The practice manager told us she was preparing an application.
