During a routine inspection
All of the dental practitioners were registered with the General Dental Council.
We found that people were made aware of their treatment options and their consent was obtained before treatment was carried out. One person who used the service said, 'They tell me what's on offer and explain it in no uncertain terms.'
The dental records showed the treatment people had received and when a follow visit was required to maintain their oral health.
We found that the decontamination process of instruments used for dental treatment was in line with guidance and would reduce the risk of cross infection.
The practice had an out of hours service which provided emergency care and treatment for people if needed.
A policy was in place in respect of staff recruitment that would ensure the suitability of new staff.
There was a complaints procedure but not all people were aware of it. People we spoke with had no complaints. One person said, 'I think they provide us with an excellent service.'
