During a routine inspection
We spoke with four people who told us they were pleased and happy with the service. A parent told us, 'I bring all my children here and then persuaded my husband to come.' Another person told us, 'I have used the service for 30 years and have received excellent care.' The service had surgeries on the ground floor for ease of access to all people.
The service had published its first newsletter 'Molar Times' this was free and available to people at reception. It provided information about the service, dental advice and invited people to make suggestions.
The medical records were stored on a computer. One surgery is equipped with a camera and large visual display unit so that the dentist can show the person the problems they have experienced with their teeth or gums.
We spoke with three staff and they were all aware from their training of the safeguarding procedure for children and vulnerable adults. There was a complaints procedure in place along with satisfaction surveys. The service supported its staff through training, supervision and an appraisal system.
