During a routine inspection
Four patients we spoke with confirmed that the dentist had explained to them the treatment options open to them and the costs involved. One patient said, 'I have been coming to this practice for some years. The staff are very helpful. The dentist always explains the treatment and how much it will cost.'
The members of staff we spoke with had knowledge of the safeguarding procedures for the protection of vulnerable adults and children.
We found that the service had followed the hygiene code of practice and the guidelines on the decontamination of surgical instruments issued by the Department of Health.
There was an effective quality monitoring system in place, which had included regular auditing of all aspects of the practice. Patients' survey questionnaires and feedback had been discussed at team meetings and shortfalls had been promptly addressed to improve the service.
