During a routine inspection
In the three patient records we looked at, we saw that medical issues that might impact on people's dental treatment were clearly recorded. People we spoke with told us they were told about treatment options and costs. One person said, 'They explained the treatment options, they were very informative and told me about NHS price bands.'
We saw that the surgery was clean, equipment was stored safely and that staff followed the Department of Health guidance for infection prevention and control. A dental nurse showed how they cleaned, decontaminated and sterilised the equipment that was used.
In the four staff files we looked at, we saw records of the checks made on staff's suitability for their role, and of their professional registration and training. We saw that the practice manager asked patients for feedback about their experiences at the surgery, and made regular checks on the cleanliness of the premises and the quality of patients' and other records that were kept at the surgery.
