Score: 0

Freedom to speak up

Score: 3

Staff told us they were confident on speaking up about concerns at the service. A staff member told us, "yes sure they [Staff] always listen [to their concerns]. If they [staff] did not listen to my concerns I would report it to the manager. If the manager didn’t listen, I would go to CQC." A manager told us “Our staff are always encouraged to speak up. We have monthly staff meetings and an open-door policy. Staff know they can speak to the management at any time and have an open and honest conversation.”

There was a clear policy on whistleblowing and who staff could contact in the event of a concern.

The service had created surveys to send to people and gather their feedback on the service. However, as The Ruddington was a new service, these surveys had not yet been sent out.
