Independence, choice and control

Score: 3

Care was planned in a person-centred way with the involvement of people and relatives where appropriate. Feedback was obtained from people during all interactions with staff and support was regularly reviewed.

Staff took time to get to know people and learn how they wished to be supported. Staff understood people’s rights and worked with them as individuals to promote positive outcomes for them. The registered manager told us how when people were being supported at the end of their life they supported their relatives as well to ensure they remained involved in their loved ones care.

People were complimentary of the care and support they received at the service. One person said, “The staff do everything with a good heart.” People were comfortable with their accommodation and how they spent their time, one person said, “I have everything I need here or sometimes I will take a walk down to the lounge and sit and read for an hour.”
