During a routine inspection

Blackpool Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS Blackpool) was usually open two to four days each month but opened for additional days as needed. It was not open to clients on the day we inspected. Therefore we were unable to speak to people using the service. However we looked at the BPAS Blackpool feedback forms completed by people who had recently used the service. These were positive about the care and support they received. One person had written, 'I was completely satisfied with all aspects from consultation to treatment.' Another person wrote, 'They made a horrible situation pleasanter. They made me feel at ease.'

People said in the feedback back forms that they said that they had been given enough information. They felt that this allowed them to make a decision about the procedure and their treatment. One person had written, 'The information given was detailed and clear.' Another person commented, 'Staff were sympathetic, and very clear.'

There were safeguarding procedures in place and staff received regular training. There was a complaints system and people had access to the complaints procedure.

During an inspection in response to concerns

The visit was part of a responsive review programme of locations operated by Fraterdrive Ltd, following concerns raised in relation to breaches of the Abortion Act 1967, at another location.

We did not speak with people who used the service on this occasion.
