Our view of the service

We assessed a total of 34 quality statements from the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions. This was the first assessment for this newly registered service. The assessment of these 34 quality statements indicated areas of good practice. The overall rating for this service is good. Risks to people were tailored to people's needs and assessed with full consultation with the person. Risks were managed and mitigated as much as possible. Governance systems and audits were effective in identifying and addressing areas for improvement. The management team had an accurate and up to date picture of risk across the service at any one time. People received their medicines on time and in a safe way. People were fully involved with any decisions regarding their medicines. Policies and practices were in place to help ensure people were protected from the risk of harm and abuse. Staff were able to describe what action to take to safe people if necessary. There were enough staff to ensure people’s safety and meet their needs. People were supported by staff who were kind, caring and considerate of their needs. The service was clean, homely and well maintained. Staff were trained in effective infection, prevention and control procedures and had access to adequate supplies of PPE. People were supported to have choice and control in all aspects of their care and support. Opportunities for people to provide feedback on their care were available. People’s care plans were detailed and reflected people's input. Where people required care from both in-house professionals and external agencies, the provider supported people to access this to help ensure people received the best possible outcomes for their care and support. People were supported in way which focused on people's rehabilitation, to enable them to live a more independent life outside of the service.

People's experience of this service

People’s experience of living at Rosebank was positive. We spoke with 3 people during our assessment. People told us they felt safe living at Rosebank and were cared for by staff who were familiar with them and knew their support needs and preferences. People told us they were happy living at Rosebank and with the support provided by staff. People lived in an environment which was clean and well maintained. Staff supported people with domestic chores to help develop their life skills and aid their independence. People had access to food and drink which met their needs and preferences. People were involved with devising menus, shopping for food and cooking and told us they enjoyed this. People had choice and control over how they wanted to spend their day and were able to access the community, colleges and shops. The provider encouraged people to maintain relationships with family and friends. Governance processes were in place to ensure practice was continually assessed and any opportunities were identified to help further improve the standards of care and support for people.
