All Inspections

8 August 2013

During a routine inspection

The inspection was carried out by one Inspector, and included spending three hours in the Enablement office looking at documentation and talking with staff. We spoke with four staff from different job roles, as well as with the registered manager.

We talked with a random selection of people who used the Enablement services, or with their relatives. We found that people spoke very highly of the care and support they received. We also viewed comments from people which had been sent in as part of the quality assurance procedures.

People's comments included: 'Every member of the team is very friendly, efficient, and supportive"; 'I do not know what I would do without them, they are so helpful"; and "The staff are very good, lovely."

We found that the service obtained suitably detailed information about people and their needs to enable staff to provide effective care.

Some people needed assistance or prompting with their medication, and we found that appropriate staff training and medication procedures were in place for people to be assisted safely.

Staff had on-going training, and this was confirmed by the training records which we viewed. Staff said that they were well supported by their senior management.

The complaints records showed that people's concerns and complaints were taken seriously, and were properly investigated and responded to appropriately.

19 September 2012

During a routine inspection

The inspection visit was carried out by one Inspector and lasted for three hours. The registered manager was available throughout the inspection. The office included staff for both the Maidstone and Malling areas. We (i.e. CQC) talked with the locality managers and administration staff for both of these areas.

We obtained people's views by reading recent questionnaire responses and letters sent to the service.

People's responses included the following comments:

'All the carers treat me very nicely.'

'Thank you for such kindness and wonderful help.'

'The way you did your job has been a major factor in my rate of recovery.'

'Excellent service. Could not be better.'

'I was very pleased with the help that I was given.'

'I found all the staff to be very kind and caring. Nothing was too much trouble.'
