Date of Assessment: 17 June to 15 July 2024. Lady Jane Court is a care home providing accommodation and personal care to up to 60 people, including those living with dementia. We undertook the assessment as the service had not been inspected since it was registered with us in 2022. We completed a comprehensive assessment of this service to look at whether it was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Following our assessment the service was rated good. We found people were protected from abuse and harm. Staff understood the importance of consent and empowered people to be involved in their own care. People received their medicines safely and on time. Staff were appropriately skilled to meet people’s needs including those living with Dementia. Staff worked collaboratively with external health and social care professionals. People’s care and support promoted equality and protected their rights. The management team had clear oversight and strong leadership and accountability. The provider had robust systems and processes that continually assessed, monitored and mitigated risks, safety and quality.

People's experience of the service

People living at the service were positive about the quality of their care. They felt safe and were fully involved in planning their care and understanding their rights. People confirmed there were sufficient numbers of experienced, competent staff who understood their individual needs. People were positive about staff working with healthcare professionals to ensure that health conditions, as well as care and treatment requirements, were consistently addressed. One person told us, “I saw the GP yesterday who visited the service, the chiropodist visits 6 weekly, our health needs are well met.” Relatives told us the care provided was kind, caring and compassionate. A relative said, “We couldn’t ask for anything more, in a home, we honestly couldn’t, and we are very grateful [relation] is so well cared for.”
