During a routine inspection
Care plans and other documents clearly identified the support needs of individuals although they did not always provide a lot of detail about how these needs were to be met. Staff had ready access to care plans and were kept informed of any changes.
The agency had appropriate procedures in place to support medication for its clients, where necessary. Staff received in-house training on managing medication and their competence was observed before being signed off to do this. The people supported were happy with the way staff assisted them with medication.
The agency undertook appropriate recruitment and selection checks on new staff which were well documented. Staff received a detailed induction and had their practice regularly monitored. Support systems were in place for staff should they require advice.
There was an appropriate complaints procedure and complaints investigations were recorded. The people we spoke with who were supported by the agency were happy with the care and support they received and were confident that any issues or concerns would be resolved.
