During a routine inspection

The manger informed us Addenbrooke care home had been selected by Hampshire County Council for closure. The manager told us the people using the service and relatives had had been made aware of this and had been provided with information regarding this decision. Staff had also been made aware of the situation.

Ten people were living at Addenbrooke. We spoke with nine of these people; one person was in bed as they were not feeling well. People told us they were happy living at Addenbrooke. They told us they had choices on how they spent their time. People said they could get up in the morning and go to bed when they wanted. People told us their meals were good and they had a choice of meals. People were very complimentary about the staff. They told us they were very kind and attentive to meet all their needs. People told us they received plenty of activities in the home, which they could join in if they wanted. Four people told us they were pleased the home had a smoking room as this was a time they got together to have a smoke and a chat.

During an inspection in response to concerns

People told us they were satisfied with the care at this home. Relatives commented on the improvements they had seen in their relatives since moving to the home. They said they were happy with the arrangements for eating and drinking and thought the staff and management were approachable and friendly.
