All Inspections

During a routine inspection

There were three people living in the home on the day of our inspection. One person had been to college and the others had been out shopping. We spoke with the three people living there, two staff and the acting manager.

People told us that they were happy in the home and we saw that people looked relaxed and happy. We saw good interactions between staff and people in the home. One person told us that they had been out shopping and told us they didn't want us to look at their bedroom. Another person told us that they had been out shopping and "I'm having a lie down now." Another person told us "I go to college and I enjoy it."

We saw that when people were taken out although their days were not varied they appeared happy. People maintained contact with friends/relatives who were important to them.

Staff supported people to meet their healthcare needs to ensure their well being. People were supported to eat a healthy and nutritious diet.

Arrangements were in place to ensure that people were safeguarded from harm.

People's medication was stored safely and was given to them as prescribed to ensure their health and well being.

The service had not been adequately monitored and audits were not in place to ensure that standards were being maintained. People's views about the service had not been gathered to ensure they were happy with the service. All documents were not available as keys were not left the home.

During a routine inspection

We found that the four people living at 16 The Slieve looked happy and comfortable in the home. Two people were able to have a conversation with us and told us how they spent their day. The other two people had limited conversation but engaged with us through their actions and facial expressions. We read about how each person spent their day. The information available told us that a person's day did not vary much from day to day. We saw that one person went to work during the day. One person went shopping almost daily. Most days seem to be spent watching the television.

Our observations of the people living in the home and the interaction we saw between them and care staff showed they were relaxed and related easily to care staff. People were seen to engage easily with care staff and move freely and easily around the home.

Care staff told us that family members visit the home and contribute to their relatives care. People living in the home also visit their relatives at their homes.
