During a routine inspection

We spoke with two parents of two different children and with three link workers (care workers) during our visit. Both parents told us the service worked well. One said 'I trust my link worker. They know what they're doing.' The second commented 'I'm happy with the care. There's absolutely no problems (with the care).'

The link workers told us they were well trained and received good support from senior staff. I feel competent to care for A. They (the service) give me as much training as I need.' Another added I have a good relationship with my placement worker, (supervisor). I can call her anytime.'

Parents were involved and included in discussions about different care and support choices. This meant their views were taken into account in the way the service was planned and delivered.

Parents and their children received appropriate and safe support, in line with what they were wanting.

The service ensured medication was administered safely and appropriately, though records to evidence this care could be more consistently maintained.

Link workers were well trained, both in compulsory areas like safeguarding children and first aid, and according to the needs of the child and family they supported. Link workers met regularly with their supervisors to discuss their work and gain personal support.

The service took complaints seriously and addressed any negative comments promptly and effectively.

We spoke with children or young people who use the service, and their parents, who benefit from the service. Comments about their support worker from young people include 'She's nice', 'she's kind', 'I would be bothered if she stopped coming'. 'She's alright ' not perfect'.

Comments from parents include. 'It's a reliable service, tailored to our needs. I've been impressed. They listen to me. They come to my house. I like that'. Another added 'she's reliable. She comes when she says'. And a third commented. 'She's (support worker) very loving towards my child. My child is so excited when they know she's coming'.
