Caring
People were treated with kindness and respect. People and relative were involved in decisions about peoples care. People’s independence were respected and promoted.

Independence, choice and control
We observed that staff supported people to make decisions such as on meals and on activities. We also observed independence was promoted where possible such as encouraging people with eating meals and cleaning their home independently.
People were involved in decisions about their care and how they would like to be supported where possible and independence was promoted. A person told us, "I clean my own room by myself." A relative commented, "Yes, as much as possible. They involve [person] in making choices to and at the moment are talking about decorating [persons] room. They are keeping me informed and helping [person] to choose paper and colours."
Staff told us they promoted peoples independence and involved people with decisions when supporting them. A staff member told us, "We have different types of meetings this includes residents meetings and meetings with family and the person we support. We discuss different topics like how they would like the home to be decorated, where they want to go on holiday and different activities they would like to try."
