Our view of the service
Date of assessment 4 June to 13 June 2024 Heron Court is a 'care home'. People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided, and both were looked at during this assessment. Heron Court provides accommodation, nursing, and personal care for up to 35 people. At the time of the assessment, 32 people were living at the service. We looked at 16 quality statements in the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led key questions. Systems were in place to ensure people remained safe whilst promoting their independence. Risks to people had been assessed and measures put in place with guidance for staff to mitigate the risk of harm. There were enough suitably qualified staff to meet people’s needs. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice. Staff had built positive relationships with people living in the service. Care plans included clear guidance to staff on how to support people in the way they wanted. There were systems in place to monitor the quality and safety of the service.
