During an inspection in response to concerns

One person that was spoken to about being involved in their care assessment and delivery said they were usually asked by staff what they wanted to wear, eat or do and what help they needed with personal care on a daily basis. This person could not remember or relate any details about the assessment process but said they were assisted with the care they needed in a way they wanted.

People in the home told us nothing was too much trouble for the staff and that the staff were very kind and caring. They said they were well cared for and their needs were well met.

People said they were very satisfied with the food provision, that they were given a choice at each meal and have had such as cereals, bacon and tomatoes, toast and preserves or marmalade for breakfast and a wide variety of foods for lunch, and always with a pudding.

People said there was always plenty to eat, three meals a day plus snacks in-between. They said the food was very good. One person described their specific dietary needs and explained the cook always catered well for them. Another person spoken to in their room was asked if the food was satisfactory and they replied "Very, but I am having a little trouble getting all the sauce on my fish pie and would like a spoon." The person had a visual impairment so a spoon was requested and staff obliged.

People spoken to were only briefly asked about the standard on safeguarding. They said that staff were very kind and caring. One said "It's alright here, I can come and go as I please, but I'm waiting for some better weather so I can get out to do some shopping." Others said they liked living at White Rose Lodge. People also said that they felt safe and had confidence in the manager and the staff to deal effectively and promptly with any concerns they may have.

People spoken to were only briefly asked about the comfort and cleanliness of the home. They said they were very satisfied with the cleanliness of their rooms and that the whole house was a nice place to live.

People told us the home was warm and comfortable.

People said they had their own equipment and if they needed help with mobility it was given, using the hoist if necessary.

People said they would go to the manager if they had any complaints or concerns.
