All Inspections

20 February 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke to people who used the service and to their main carers (a relative or friend) to gain views about the service. We visited two people in their own home and one person in hospital and spoke with them about their experiences of the support they were receiving or were expecting to receive.

The people we spoke with confirmed that the care workers supported and encouraged them to maintain as much independence as possible and were aware that the service was a short term assessment and re-enablement service. All of the people we spoke with gave positive feedback about the service and said that care staff respected their choices about the way that care was delivered. One person told us 'I don't know how I would have managed without them' and that the care workers were 'kind and respectful in my house.'

All of the people we spoke with said that they felt safe using this service and knew what to do if they had any concerns. Staff demonstrated a good knowledge of and were appropriately trained in safeguarding matters.

All of the people were confident that staff had the appropriate knowledge and skills to meet their needs. For example, one person said the care workers 'know exactly what I need.' Care workers told us that they felt supported by their team leader.

The agency had systems in place in order to evaluate the quality of the service.
