Our view of the service
Assessment activity started on 21 August 2024 and ended on 4 September 2024. Gencare is a care home registered to provide care to up to 5 people with a physical disability and sensory impairments. At the time of assessment, the service provided support to 3 people. We conducted this assessment to follow up on concerns we identified at the last inspection. These included breaches of Regulations relating risk assessments and governance. The last rating for this service was requires improvement (published 7 July 2023). At this assessment we found improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of regulations. The manager in post was in the process of registering with the CQC as the registered manager for this care home.
People's experience of this service
People and relatives spoke positively about living in the home. They said care staff were caring and kind. They told us they felt safe in the home and in the presence of care staff. Relatives told us they had confidence people were supported and well cared for. Systems were in place to help protect people from the risk of harm. Care records included information about how to manage potential risks to help keep people safe. Staff were recruited safely and trained appropriately to ensure they were competent for their role. People’s care and support plans reflected their range of needs. Staff told us they were well supported by their colleagues and management. Systems were in place to monitor aspects of the service and quality of care provided were continuously. During our site visit, we observed people looked relaxed and at ease in the home. We saw positive and meaningful interaction between people and staff. We met and spoke with 3 people who lived in the home. We also spoke with 2 relatives. We met and spoke with the manager and nominated individual and spoke with 3 care staff. We obtained feedback from 2 care professionals.
