During a routine inspection

We were not able to speak with anyone during the visit as no one attending on the day chose to speak with us. We saw people had a comprehensive assessment as well as verbal and written information to help them decide if they wanted to have the planned treatment.

People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. People were protected from the risks of unsafe treatment because their records were up to date and contained accurate information. Care records were reviewed and updated each time people came to use the service. This ensued that people's needs were accurately described.

The premises were clean, tidy and hygienic and there were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. We saw that cleaning and infection control audits were completed and up to date.

The organisation had a robust recruitment program that ensured the staff they employed were suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff. We saw staff had a comprehensive induction program records were maintained of staff training and any gaps in the training needs of the staff were identified and provided for.

People who used the service were kept safe because there were effective systems in place to monitor the service. Complaints were treated seriously and dealt and in an effective manner.

22 November 2012

During a routine inspection

We were not able to speak to people who used the service because there were no clients present when we visited. The provider showed us feedback they had received about the clinic in which most people had commented positively about the service. We found that staff at the clinic ensured that people were appropriately assessed before treatments were provided. Staff who provided the treatments were properly trained and assessed as competent, the assessment of clinical staff such as nurses was undertaken by qualified clinical staff. The provider had effective systems in place to respond to complaints or concerns raised.
