During a routine inspection
We spoke with seven people living in the home, three visitors, thirteen staff, the clinical lead nurse and the registered manager. We observed practices and reviewed care records.
We found people's consent was obtained before care tasks were carried out. Some people were receiving bed baths early in the morning however staff told us this only happened if people required a full change of bedding or night clothes. Staff told us they did not wake people up unless absolutely necessary and this was confirmed by people we spoke with who lived in the home.
Overall we found people's care needs were being met. However we found people did not have a sufficient supply of their own continence pads to last them until the next delivery. This meant staff had to borrow other people's pads or use a spare supply which may not always be suitable to meet each person's continence needs.
We found safe systems were in place to manage medicines in the home.
From our observations, feedback from staff and people who lived in the home we found there were not always enough staff to meet people's needs.
We found there were systems in place to monitor the quality of service people received.
