The provider had taken necessary steps to ensure that risks to the safety and security of people using the service and staff were addressed.

We spoke with three people who were using the service. They said they had been given good information about their treatment and options and had been asked to give consent before undergoing surgery. They said they were pleased with the care and treatment they had received and said they were made to feel at ease. We also looked at the provider's patient satisfaction survey in respect of the cleanliness of the premises and found that the results were very good.

We spoke to two people that had recently undergone refractive laser eye surgery at Optical Express, and one who was about to have surgery. All said they have received full information and a consultation before deciding to go ahead with the treatment, and were made aware of the treatment options available. They were also provided with an aftercare pack with an emergency telephone number, in case they had any problems after the treatment. The people that had had the treatment said it was done well and that they were made very comfortable. They said the aftercare service was also very good. They found the premises clean and comfortable. However, one person said the laser had developed a fault when she was due to have her eye treatment but the provider was able to do the treatment the same day at their clinic in nearby Bluewater shopping centre, Kent.
