Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people's needs, including the support they needed to maximise their independence. Staff were aware of communication systems people used. Staff understood ways to support people to maintain choice and control and how people's capacity may impact on this.

People's care records and care plans demonstrated they were involved in decisions about their care. Plans included ways staff should support people to maximise their independence.

People told us they had choice and control over what they did, were able to have visitors and were able to take part in activities they enjoyed. People told us they were able to take part in community events and keep in contact with friends and family. Visitors told us they were made to feel welcome in the service.
