Our current view of the service

Outstanding

Updated 24 September 2024

Date of assessment: 7 October to 23 October 2024. Hartsholme House is a purpose-built care home registered to support 44 people over the age of 65. At the time of our assessment, 43 people were using the service. Most of the people at Hartsholme House were living with dementia. The service kept people safe. Staff knew how to recognise and report concerns. People were being supported to manage their own risk and live as independently as they could. Innovative technology had been used to understand risks and barriers people faced with certain health conditions which had led to improvements to safety and quality in the home. People were supported by a consistent and caring staff who were valued by the management team. Extra consideration had been given for when people needed more staff support to enable independence and ensure safety. Consequently, there were minimal incidents and people were able to control their own routines. Care plans were person-centred and included information about how to manage potential risks to help keep people safe. People were listened to and their opinions were respected. There were various ways people and their relatives could share experiences or give feedback. Regular checks were made to assess the quality and safety of the service. Records of care and support were regularly reviewed and up to date. Staff had access to clear information about the people they were supporting.
