Effective
At our last inspection, we found people’s needs had not always been assessed appropriately before they moved in and that no care plan had been developed for a person in receipt of respite care. This contributed to a breach of the regulations. At this inspection, we found people’s needs had been identified and assessed prior to their admission into the service and that care plans had been developed for everyone using the service. This meant the service was no longer in breach of this aspect of the regulations.
This service scored 54 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Assessing needs
People were confident staff understood how to meet their specific needs. They told us, “The staff know what they are doing, they are always polite” and “There are always two when I am being hoisted, they know what they are doing”.
The deputy manager or senior carers completed initial assessments of people's needs. These staff were confident in this role and assessments records showed information about people’s individual wishes had been recorded.
There were systems in place designed to assess and identify people’s specific needs before they moved into St Anthony’s. Information was gathered from the person, their relatives, and any previous care providers to ensure people’s specific needs and preferences were understood. Information gathered during the assessments process was used as the basis from which care plans were developed.
