Our view of the service
Choices Homecare(Bolton and Bury) previously known as Mayday Homecare is a Domiciliary Care Agency (DCA) providing a service to older and younger adults, some of whom may have dementia, with varying levels of personal care needs. Staff provided care to people living in their own homes. At the time of inspection there were 196 people receiving regulated activities. This assessment was carried out between 9 July and 9 August 2024. During this assessment, we identified breaches regarding safe care and treatment, staffing and good governance.
People's experience of this service
People who used the service and relatives said they felt safe with the staff who supported them. At the time of the assessment we had spoken to 5 people using the service and 16 relatives. This does not change the overall rating. There were enough staff to care for people safely, although some people reported their care visits were often late, or too early. People felt staff were well trained and that staff sought their consent when delivering care. People said they recalled receiving an assessment from the local authority, although not from Choices Homecare. Relatives and people who used the service were happy with the care provided and felt well treated by staff. People said there was good management and leadership.
