During an inspection in response to concerns
One person we spoke with had signed their care plan review, but on talking to this person we were aware that they were suffering from quite advanced dementia and did not understand what the care plan was about.
One person said they do not get much choice about their daily lives, for example what they do, where they sit to eat their meal, what food they eat and so on.
During our visit we saw that staff treated the people who live here with kindness, but the care given was not always based on what that individual needed or wanted.
The records of when medicines were given to people were inaccurate and incomplete, so there was no clear indication of whether people had received their medicines correctly or not. One person's prescribed creams were mixed up with cosmetics and toothpaste and left in a basket by their bed.
People told us that the new manager seemed to be approachable, and was bringing some much needed stability to the home. One person said it was too early to judge, but things were alright so far.
