Updated 20 February 2024

Date of assessment 28 February to 6 March 2024. Reinbek is a residential care home providing personal care to 36 older people with a variety of conditions at the time of the inspection. The home can support up to 46 people. Care is provided over two floors and each of the four units had a separate kitchenette, lounge and dining area. This assessment was triggered by concerns we received about the service. We looked at 5 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control, and Equity in experiences and outcomes. At this assessment we found breaches of regulation as the provider needs to make improvements to ensure that people are supported in line with their assessed needs and preferences, people’s risk are effectively managed, and staffing levels are adequate to meet people’s needs in a timely way .

People's experience of the service

Updated 20 February 2024

We received mixed feedback from people about the care and support they received at the home. Most people told us they would like more staff on duty, and they did not always receive a timely response when they used their call bells; this had led to people being put at risk of harm. People told us they would like a more personalised approach to the frequency of bathing and showering as they did not always get a bath or shower when it was their preference. People told us they felt safe and were visited regularly by their GP and told us they received medical attention when needed. People told us staff were mostly kind and caring and we observed kind interactions. However, we also received feedback that staff were not always respectful, and many people told us there was sometimes a language barrier with some staff.
