Date of on-site assessment: 29 May 2024 to 31 Aug 2024. We carried out a responsive assessment of Little Bridge House which is run by Children’s Hospice South West in response to concerns raised about how the service was run. We assessed a number of quality statements from the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led and found areas of good practice. The scores for these areas have been combined with scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection. The service remains good overall. The service was rated good overall for safe, with elements of outstanding in terms of the premises and the high level of equipment choice that was provided for patients. We rated ‘delivering evidence based care and treatment’ for effective and rated this as good. The scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection mean the service has retained its good rating for this key question. For caring, we looked at workforce wellbeing and enablement which we rated as good. The scores based on the key question ratings from the last inspection mean the service has retained its outstanding rating for this key question. We rated the quality statement ‘care provision, integration and continuity’ for responsive which was rated good overall, the same as the previous inspection. We found the service provided continuity of care and safe care for patients however the service was limited by the number of days it provided respite services as it was not open 7 days a week. Overall well-led was rated as good which was the same as the previous inspection. There had been changes in the management structure, however staff reported that they felt supported by the leadership team. The service was working on its vision and strategy and ensuring that this was produced in collaboration with its partners, including its staff base.
