Our view of the service

We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 21 August 2024. We found the practice had met regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. The practice is in Bradford and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. The practice is a foundation training practice. New graduates (foundation dentists) work in approved practices and are supported by General Dental Practitioners who are selected and appointed as educational supervisors. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 6 dentists (including 1 foundation dentist), 8 dental nurses including 4 trainees, 2 dental hygienists, 1 practice manager, 1 nurse mentor and 3 receptionists. The practice had 7 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 4 dentists, 2 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist, 1 receptionist, the nurse mentor and the practice manager.

People's experience of this service

During our assessment, we received feedback from 21 patients. Their responses and additional patient feedback we reviewed provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included: “They always give amazing service they are very good at their jobs”, “Good communication, treatment and advice for maintaining good oral health”, “The reception staff are always warm and very welcoming, they are polite and help in any way they can” and, “The dentist and dental nurses are always welcoming and put you at ease as soon as you step in the room.” The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. Staff were proactive at gathering and responding to feedback from patients, the public and external partners and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. Patients commented positively about the standards of the practice environment, decor and cleanliness.
