During an assessment under our new approach

We carried out our unannounced onsite assessment on 31 July 2024, off site assessment activity started 5 August 2024 and concluded 28 August 2024. At this assessment we spent time with and spoke with 9 people using the service and 6 relatives, 7 staff members and 1 professional working with the service, to help us assess and understand how people’s care needs were being met. We completed this assessment at a different location to what is published on our website, the service was in the process of changing the address of the regulated activity. Section 62 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 states we can continue to enter and inspect any premises which we reasonably believe to be premises at which a regulated activity is being carried on. District Healthcare limited is a domiciliary care service providing care and support to people in their own homes. The service provides a regulated activity of personal care, not all of the people using the service receive this regulated activity and CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. We found the service had safety as a priority for everyone and leaders embedded a culture of openness and collaboration. People’s needs were assessed and they received care, support and treatment which reflected their needs. We observed people being treated with kindness, empathy and compassion. The health and care needs of people were understood by staff and leaders. The registered manager had effective governance systems in place. Quality checks were carried out and improvements were made when necessary. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. At this assessment we found the overall rating of the service is good.
