During a routine inspection
The majority of people who used the service had very limited verbal communication. One person told us that they liked living at the home, they were satisfied with the care and support they received and the service met their needs. They told us that they were 'happy', staff were 'kind' and there was always someone around to provide help and support. A relative told us, 'The staff are all very kind and so enthusiastic. We appreciate the fact that they work hard to find out just what my daughter likes doing and what she is interested in'.
We were shown examples of the recently implemented, individualised and comprehensive care plans. They provided structure and guidance for care workers, to ensure that the assessed current and on-going support needs could be met consistently and safely.
People were protected against the risks associated with medication because the provider had appropriate arrangements in place to administer, monitor and manage medicines appropriately.
We found that people using the service were protected by effective staff recruitment and selection procedures.
The service had effective systems in place to deal with people's comments and complaints.
