People, their relatives and staff were treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. The culture within the home was one of inclusivity, people felt at home. Staff were supported by their colleagues and good relationships with external partners meant respect and kindness was at the core of Homefield Grange.

Feedback from external partners did not raise any concerns about staff approaches within the home.

Staff told us they were supported by their colleagues and were a close team, all striving for the same goal, to support people to enjoy a good life. Staff told us they had training in dignity and respect and records confirmed this. Staff were extremely vocal about the kindness of each other and how well they worked as a team, led by the registered manager. A member of staff said, “I believe that we all work well as a team and support each other in helping the residents with their needs. I enjoy serving the residents and putting smiles on their faces every day. This gives me a sense of purpose that no other job has given me in the past.”

We observed kind interactions during the inspection between people and staff. Staff knew people well and there was respectful affection between them, this included much needed laughter and fun.

People told us staff treated them with kindness, they were complementary about staff approaches to support them to live well. One person said, “I couldn’t do without them, they are wonderful.”
