During a routine inspection
People told us that they felt safe with the support workers who supported them. They told us that they were treated with respect and they were satisfied with the care and support they received. One person told us: 'They are very good carers, they have very good manners and they treat me well." Another explained: "They [support workers] are like friends to me."
We were told that people were involved in deciding what care and support they needed and we found that appropriate assessments had taken place, either prior to their care and support package commencing, or on the day it commenced. This showed us that the service assured itself that the individual needs of each person could be met, prior to their care package commencing.
There was an appropriate recruitment process in place and all new support workers were required to attend a comprehensive induction and training programme. This ensured that they were suitable and appropriately trained to work with the people who use the service.
We found a number of monitoring systems in place including six monthly surveys for the people who use the service. This enabled the management team to monitor the quality of service that people received.
