We saw that people's consent to their care and treatment was sought. People told us that they received good care and support for their needs. We saw that the home regularly assessed people's care needs and put care plans into place with risk assessments to ensure people received the care they needed. We saw that care plans and risk assessments were kept under regular review to ensure people's changing needs were addressed. One person told us "I observe what happens every day and the staff are good at making sure everyone gets attention." We saw that health care specialists were consulted where necessary to ensure people benefited from expert opinion and advice.
People were protected by staff who had been trained in safeguarding and abuse awareness and who had been checked by the correct authority to ensure they were suitable to care for vulnerable people.
Staff did not have the training they required to ensure they could meet people's needs. They did however, receive regular supervision and told us their manager was approachable and supportive.
The home had some systems in place to monitor and review the care offered. These were not sufficient to ensure the quality of service was maintained or improved for the benefit of those who lived there.
