The provider's quality assurance systems were not sufficiently robust. Audits had failed to identify the continuous improvements required to the premises and did not identify risks so was not able to provide a supportive and caring environment. Staff were complimentary of the registered manager and records showed staff had received regular supervision. The provider took on board comments made by family members and kept them informed whenever there were changes.

Staff told us they have worked with [people] at the home for a long time and feel they have a good understanding of their support needs. A staff member told us, “We support [people] at their pace as a person likes their support and care given in a particular way due to their health condition.”

Relatives told us they felt that people received good care and support by staff. A relative told us, "I’m very happy with how [my relative] is being supported.” Staff ensured people had equal opportunities, regardless of their abilities, their background or their lifestyle.

We saw that care plans were completed and reviewed and had information of cultural or religious support needs. However, some plans were not always personalised as they were written similar to each other. We did not see care plans in easy read format for people with different support needs or a way in which it could be indicated that a person participated and agreed to their support.
