Staff had training in equality and diversity. People’s care plans reflected their needs including their cultural and religious needs. Staff were knowledgeable at people's preferences. The provider asked people and relatives for feedback and acted on their findings.

The provider asked people, relatives, and staff for feedback on a regular basis. The registered manager provided us with a breakdown of a recent survey. The results were very positive. Staff told us they were supported in their role by the managerial team.

People and relatives told us they could talk to staff and managers. Team meetings and handovers were held regularly, and people’s needs and preferences were discussed. Care plans reflected people’s different backgrounds and identified needs around people’s culture and religion.

The provider had equality and diversity policies in place to offer staff guidance on issues such as discrimination and inclusion. Staff had training in equality and diversity. This meant staff had a good understanding of equality issues such as people’s diverse needs and backgrounds. Staff told us they would not discriminate against people based on race, religion, gender, or disability. Care records reviewed showed people’s personal preferences were considered when planning care and treatment. For example, people were able to choose support from either a male or female care worker. In another example additional staffing hours were requested when a person asked for them so they could meet their religious preferences. Staff and leaders showed a good understanding of their role regarding equality issues.
