During an inspection looking at part of the service
We found that some improvements had been made to procedures designed to protect people from harm. This meant that staff had up to date guidance on how to identify and report any allegations of abuse or harm. Improvements had been made to the complaints procedure which contained up to date guidance on how to make a complaint. We saw that some areas in the service had been re-decorated and alterations made in the layout of the main hallway which gave people using the service more space in which to move around.
The standards of cleanliness and hygiene in one bedroom did not always prevent against the risk of infection or create a pleasant environment in which to live.
At the time of this inspection the provider was on planned leave so the inspection was facilitated by the home manager.
We spent time observing people in their interactions with staff to help us understand the experiences of people using the service, as some people had complex needs which meant they were not fully able to tell us their experiences.
Despite the service being busy on the day of our inspection people appeared calm and relaxed throughout. Three people we spoke with indicated they were happy with the service provided.
