Our provider portal is new and we're still developing this service

If you're a registered provider, you can use the provider portal to submit some notifications and manage some aspects of your registration.

In the future, we plan to make more services available online.

What you can do on the provider portal

Submit some types of notification

  • Allegations of abuse (safeguarding)
  • Death of a detained mental health patient
  • Death of a person using the service
  • Events that stop a service running safely and properly
  • Serious injury to a person using the service
  • Outcome of an application to deprive a person of their liberty (DoLS)
  • Police involvement in an incident
  • Unauthorised absence

You must continue to submit all other types of notification by email.

  • Nominated individuals can now create user accounts for colleagues who do not work in a regulatory role.

  • Cancel your provider registration
  • Cancel your manager registration

Before you start, check if you're eligible

You need to hold a CQC registered role to create a provider portal account.

You must be one of the following:

  • a nominated individual
  • a responsible individual
  • a registered manager
  • a main partner.

Check if you hold a CQC-registered role

Nominated individuals and registered managers
Check your provider registration certificate. Nominated individuals and registered managers are listed on your registration.

Main partner
You're the main partner in your partnership if:


  • you're listed as the main contact partner in your provider registration.

  • your name is on the correspondence you receive from us (including formal notices).

Responsible individual

If you registered with CQC as an individual (this is sometimes called a 'sole trader'), you're a responsible individual.

The email address you use to create your account must be:

  • your email address that's currently registered with CQC
  • unique to you (you cannot use an email address shared with other people)

We ask for this so we can check your details match our records.

If you have an account for the older version of our provider portal (pre-February 2024), you'll need to create a new account. Your old login details will not work.
