Problems creating an account

You've forgotten which email address you have registered with us

You have a shared email address

You cannot create a provider portal account with a shared email address, even if you did so in the past.

Our new provider portal works differently from the old version. Each user must have a unique account that is matched to their CQC registered role. We do this to provide security and accountability.

You're not eligible for a provider portal account

You may not hold a CQC-registered role. But, as part of your job, you may still need to use the provider portal. For example, you might need to submit notifications on behalf of your organisation.

If this is the case, you can ask a nominated individual from your organisation to set up a delegated user account for you.

Set up a delegated user account

You need to contact your organisation's nominated individual. They are listed on your service profile page on our website. Find your service

Once they have created a provider portal account for themselves, they can create a delegated user account for you.
This will give you access to the provider portal.

You did not get a verification code by email

  1. Check that you've entered your email address correctly.
  2. Check your spam or junk folder.
  3. Try again by selecting the 'resend code' link.
  4. Check with your organisation's IT team to make sure emails from CQC are not blocked or restricted.

Your verification code does not work


Check that:

  • you entered the code correctly
  • it has not expired (the code will expire after 15 minutes)
  • if you requested more than one code, make sure you're entering the most recent code.

Problems signing in

You've forgotten your password

  1. Go to the provider portal sign in page.
  2. Click the link that says 'Problems signing in?'.
  3. Follow the instructions to reset your password.

You've forgotten or cannot access the registered email address

If you no longer have access to the email address you registered with us, or you cannot remember it, please contact us. We will help you recover your account.
