The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated maternity services at Edgware Community Hospital good, following an inspection in October.
Maternity services are run from the hospital by the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. This was a focused inspection of the trust’s birth centre at the hospital, which only opens on-demand for local people with low-risk births.
This inspection was carried out as part of CQC’s national maternity services inspection programme. The programme aims to provide an up-to-date view of the quality of hospital maternity care across the country, and a better understanding of what is working well to support learning and improvement locally and nationally.
As well as being rated good overall, the maternity service was also rated good for being safe and well-led. This inspection didn’t look at how effective, caring, or responsive the service was.
Inspectors found people were receiving safe care from well-trained staff, who worked together well and were supported by capable leaders.
