The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published three reports on Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust following an inspection in July.
CQC carried out a short notice announced focused inspection of medical care at Broomfield Hospital, Basildon University Hospital and Southend University Hospital.
This inspection was carried out to follow up on a warning notice which was issued to the trust following the last inspection in January and February. At that inspection issues were found in relation to poor governance, incomplete risk assessments, incomplete records, equipment not being maintained, people’s nutrition and hydration needs not being met and medication not being managed in line with the service’s medicines policy.
Following this latest inspection, CQC found improvements had been made in medical care at all three hospitals, and the requirements of the warning notice had been met.
Therefore, the rating for medical care in all three hospitals, has improved from inadequate to requires improvement. It has also improved from inadequate to requires improvements for being safe, effective and well-led. Caring and responsive were not included in this inspection.
The overall rating for Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust remains rated as requires improvement
