The Care Quality Commission has today published a report relating to Warrington and Halton NHS Foundation Trust. The inspections in March were a follow up on the findings of CQC’s previous inspections in 2015, when CQC rated the trust as Requires Improvement overall.
At Warrington Hospital, medical care, critical care, outpatients and diagnostic services and maternity and gynaecology services were rated Requires Improvement. Surgery, urgent care, end of life services and services for children and young people were rated as Good.
At Halton General Hospital, outpatients and diagnostic services were rated Requires Improvement and medical care, urgent care services and surgery were rated Good. The overall rating for Halton Hospital has slipped from Good to Requires Improvement.
Overall the trust has been rated Requires Improvement - although the trust was rated Good for caring. A full report has been published on our website.
Nicolas Smith, Head of Hospital Inspection in the north said:
“Our latest inspection at Warrington and Halton NHS Foundation Trust has seen some improvements at Warrington Hospital - there had been progress since the previous inspection with improvements noted in urgent and emergency care, maternity, outpatients and diagnostics and critical care."
“The trust is aware of a number of areas where they need to improve and we will continue to work with the trust to ensure that the service continues to improve.”
