Review of support for families with disabled children published

Families with disabled children say they are waiting too long for mobility aids such as wheelchairs according to a review we have published today.

Our review of health care services for this group includes a national and 151 local area reports looking at how long families wait for critical services and assesses the quality of support for them.

People taking part in the review also felt services were not joined up and did not work well together while many children and their families reported they had not been consulted about how their care was provided.

There appears to be significant disparity between the experiences of disabled children and their families, which is overwhelmingly negative, and the data supplied by primary care trusts.
