Cynthia Bower, Chief Executive at the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and Director of Operations Amanda Sherlock have been invited to give evidence to the House of Commons Public Accounts Committee in December.
Chaired by Margaret Hodge MP, the role of this all-party committee is to examine the accounts of public bodies to check that public money is being spent appropriately. The committee does not make judgements on policy matters. Its focus is on value for money.
The National Audit Office (NAO) has started a short value for money study on CQC to inform the committee’s work. NAO is clear about the information it wants from us and a small group of CQC staff has been set up to respond to NAO requests and liaise with the auditors.
