Following temporary changes made by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to DBS applications and processes – we have written to all registered providers to update them on what this means for them.

At this challenging time, it is vital that people can be recruited or allowed to volunteer their support to services as quickly as possible, while making sure that the right checks are in place to keep people using services safe.

Today’s guidance outlines how CQC is supporting providers to take an agile approach and use their professional judgement in response to growing demand and concerns around workforce during the pandemic.

The changes and guidance will be in operation for the period that the Coronavirus Act 2020 remains in force and will be reviewed on a regular basis.

If providers have serious concerns over staffing that cannot be eased or resolved at a local level with partners, then we would encourage them to contact us so we can help escalate any concerns.
