Bootham Park Hospital update

On Friday 2 October, CQC received a request from Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust to register non-inpatient mental healthcare services (outpatient services, electroconvulsive therapy, and Section 136 place of safety) from Bootham Park Hospital in York.

CQC’s registration and mental health teams visited the building to assess its suitability earlier this month and are currently reviewing this application. These checks must be carried out so that CQC can be confident that people will be able to receive safe, high-quality and compassionate outpatient care there. We are continuing to look at this application as a priority.

In the meantime, Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust has ensured outpatient care is currently being provided at alternative locations within the York area.
