The Care Quality Commission has rated the care being provided at Belong Wigan Care Village to be Outstanding after an inspection in December 2018.

Belong Wigan Care Village is registered to provider accommodation and nursing care for up to 67 people across 6 purpose built premises. At the time of the inspection the service was at capacity.

The service was previously inspection in May 2016 and rated Good overall and for each of the key questions. At the latest inspection the service was found to have improved significantly. Belong Wigan Care Village was rated Outstanding overall and for services that are effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Safe was rated Good.

A full report of the inspection has been published on the CQC website: www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-128323309

Sheila Grant, Head of Adult Social Care Inspection, said:

“We found the people living in the service were supported to have full control over their lives and healthcare decisions, and the service was always looking to improve people’s quality of life.

“We also saw some interesting uses of technology, to help staff spend more time with the people they supported but ensured their care planning and records were current and up to date. The service was often praised for its caring approach and keeping people active and involved in their care.

“Management of the service was proactive and knowledgeable, and had a strong focus on learning and ensuring transparency throughout. A fantastic result to be rated Outstanding and sustain such significant positive changes to the care being provided.”
