The Care Quality Commission has rated the care being provided by New Prospects, Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, to be Outstanding after an inspection in December last year.

The service is registered to provide personal care to people living in their own homes, often supporting people in supported living environments for up to 24 hours a day. Previously in 2016 the home was rated Outstanding for being responsive and well-led, and overall.

At the latest inspection 213 people were in receipt of care from the service, it was again rated Outstanding for responsive and well-led services, and Good for safe and effective services. However, inspectors found significant improvements in the caring domain which improved the rating from Good to Outstanding. Overall New Prospects was rated Outstanding for a second time.

A full report of the inspection has been published on the CQC website: www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-1369809792

Rosalind Sanderson, Head of Inspection (North East and Coast), Adult Social Care said:

“We received nothing but high praise for this service when we visited, and people told us how much the service supported them to become ever more independent.

“During the inspection we saw that the caring relationships that had been formed were further enhanced through strong and effective communication, staff really listened to the people they supported. It’s fantastic to see that the service has continued to provide high standards of person-centred care. But also worked hard to make added improvements so the people it supports are provided with the best possible care.

“Congratulations to everyone at the service and well done for a second Outstanding rating.”
